Well, google turned twenty this year and if email list political and media drama were any indication of what 2019 has in store, we've got plenty to look forward to. (and if pichai's hearing was any indication of the researcher's general knowledge, then we'll also have job security.)wait, remind me what happened this year: a 2018 recap skipping over a bunch of (probably important) details, google has received genuine criticism from the media and the government over a variety of consequential societal issues. These topics all relate to how the american consumer digests information and google's role and responsibilities. (think, “with great power, comes great responsibility.” sidebar: pour it out for stan lee). The main issues include: confirmation bias. We are email list what we seek (and the specific way we ask for it). Unfortunately, being a channel of attraction, we have an innate problem with confirmation bias. This situation is exacerbated by the general public's limited critical evaluation of the information they digest (leading to a garbage-in, garbage-out problem). Eventually, the public shifted from the individuals responsible for validating the source to the search engines supposed to validate the information (no pressure…). The question remains (of course): could search email list engines ever be responsible for the results of their algorithm? Cartoon source: chainsawsuit : the false assumption that search engines are infallible means that the accuracy of results, especially when it comes to factual information, is more important than ever. Since many users are comfortable in their own bias bubbles, blissfully ignorant, and too lazy to discern fact from fiction, we push that responsibility onto search engines. Shouldn't it be their job to tell us what is and isn't “fake news” or to help us more accurately self-diagnose medical conditions? This change has major implications for the big g (and we'll likely see more of that in 2019). Accusations of political bias: during pichai's congressional committee hearing, numerous allegations of political bias were made. Regardless of the validity of these claims, google has responded in one form or another. Privacy:
